Merih Demirkol entered Ankara State Conservatory
in 1982 and studied piano with Prof. Banu Perk
and Assoc. Prof. Diler Sümer for 4 years. In
1986, he started studying clarinet with Assoc.

where he had participated in numerous
performances and concerts.
Along with his musical career, Demirkol also set
his heart on painting. He started taking drawing
lessons in 2007 from Damla Torun Oğuz and Erdem
Oğuz. Beginning in 2010, he studied for two
years in the workshop of Prof. Nurseren Tor,
Mersin University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Dept.
of Painting as guest student. Currently, he is
studying in his own workshop and producing
artwork for his personal exhibitions.
As a musician, howsoever I have been witnessing
those prolific reactions initiated by a bird
singing its song to the morning, or the
unconcealable burst of a charged cloud, with the
spontaneous and inexorable flow thereof; I have
been thinking that their visual properties are
also belonging to this flow. Therefore, wishing
to be a part of these reactions, it has been
inevitable for me to step out for this journey
towards the conjugality of music and painting. |
